PV Democrats September Meeting

Join us for our in-person September club meeting. Our meeting starts at 2:30 pm, but join us at 2 pm to chat with other Democrats.
We are meeting in-person at the Peninsula Center Library Community Room. Zoom access will be provided for those who cannot attend in-person.
We’re revisiting a theme we presented a year ago: What’s Happening With Our Schools – A Panel Discussion
During his August 19 Townhall at the Peninsula Library, Assemblymember Al Muratsuchi shared a story where he asked students what is their primary issue, and they replied “the bathrooms” they’re terrible, please fix them. While Muratsuchi is sponsoring a Facilities Bond to address this problem, our discussion will be focusing on the far right’s heated attempts to change the school narrative to book banning and student pronouns.
The speakers’ panel participants will be:
- Sara Deen, PVPUSD Board Member
- Al Muratsuchi, Assemblymember and Chair of the Education Committee
- Tim Coleman, President of the Palos Verdes Faculty Association and PenHS teacher
- Jim Roos, Palos Verdes Estates Mayor
- Paul DiCarmine, Founder of Reasonable Parents of Palos Verdes
Also joining us are leaders of the PV Students Environmental Advocacy (SEA) group who recently led a Youth Climate March in Wilmington to address the concentration of refineries near schools in Los Angeles.
