PV Democrats March Meeting

March 19, 2023 @ 2:30 pm - 4:30 pm

Join us for our in-person March club meeting.  Our meeting starts at 2:30 pm, but join us at 2 pm to chat with other Democrats.

We are meeting in-person at the Peninsula Center Library Community Room. To ensure COVID safety, we’re asking all in-person attendees to wear an N95, KN95, or a KF94 equivalent MASK.  Zoom access will be provided for those who cannot attend in-person.  To protect attendees, we will not be serving refreshments at this meeting.

The theme for this month’s meeting is How to Equitably Grow Rooftop Solar Everywhere for Everyone and Add Batteries

Our featured speaker Cailey Underhill, Advocacy and Development Director of the Solar Rights Alliance, will be joining us in-person to review the net energy metering (NEM) rules adopted by CPUC in late 2022 and talk to us about how incentivizing rooftop solar and batteries is an important component to reducing our fossil fuel dependence.

On September 14, 2022, the Solar Rights Alliance and 128 California and national organizations submitted a letter to Governor Newsom urging him to “take a stand against the misrepresentation of equity that has dominated the Public Utilities Commission’s (CPUC) Net Energy Metering (NEM) proceeding.”  The CPUC’s December 2022 decision stopped the Solar Tax, but did “not stop the CPUC from slashing by 75%-80% the credit that new solar users will get for sharing their extra solar energy with the grid.”
