The theme for this month’s meeting is Michael Hiltzik’s 2021 Ruminations and Beyond

Michael Hiltzik will expand upon his 2021 end-of-year premise:  “Instead of unity and immunity, [2021] has brought us stupidity and insanity on an unimaginable scale.  In the categories of public health, education policy, fiscal policy and investment options, we appear to have taken leave of our collective senses.”

Michael Hiltzik, LA Times business columnist and blogger, writes about such diverse topics as why single-payer is the right healthcare system, the public’s fixation on stock prices and GameStop, the fight for low-wage workers’ rights, fossil fuel companies holding on to fossil fuels, and the complexities of CA’s rooftop solar program.

Michael Hiltzik’s latest book, published in May 2020 is Iron Empires:  Robber Barons, Railroads, and the Making of Modern America.
