WHY:

STAND UP FOR HEALTHY SoCal! WE MUST PROTECT our local neighborhoods in Wilmington, Carson, Long Beach, San Pedro, and more with the worst air quality in the United States. Say NO to sacrifice zones! Say NO to environmental racism where multinational oil companies profit while communities must bear the burden of contamination, illness, noise, and risks of explosions and spills.

RESIST THE WEST COAST TAR SANDS INVASION! Standing Rock Really is Everywhere, and through a mix of leaky pipelines, exploding oil trains, risky tanker ships, the Trump Administration, led by his fossil fueled cabinet, plans to ship THE DIRTIEST CRUDE IN THE WORLD into OUR Los Angeles Harbor for storage and processing, then to be exported to the world, irreparably advancing destabilization of the global climate.

STOP THE TESORO-BP REFINERY MERGER! Big Oil’s plans to get bigger would create the largest DIRTY oil processing facility on the West Coast, doubling crude storage tanks for 3.4 million barrels, using caustic and carcinogenic chemicals with explosion and toxic release risks, and deficient environmental review by the South Coast Air Quality Management District.

We must break this deadly addiction to crude oil and transition NOW to an equitable and sustainable 100% clean renewable energy economy with better jobs and healthier communities.
