Democratic Socialists of America – Los Angeles is excited to welcome Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez to our city!

One year ago, Alexandria was working as a bartender in New York City. One June 26th, she won the primary for New York’s 14th congressional district in a landslide, unseating one of the house’s most powerful Democrats—and she won as an open democratic socialist with a people-powered campaign, pushing a platform of single-payer healthcare, housing as a human right, a federal jobs guarantee, and the abolition of ICE.

We invite you to join us on Friday evening for a wide-ranging conversation about how Alexandria pulled off her historic victory in the June primary, what it means for the insurgent left across America and in Los Angeles, and how we can keep the momentum going through 2020 and beyond.
