The Los Angeles County Democratic Party (LACDP) meeting was held on Tuesday, March 14.  Guest speakers commemorated International Women’s Day.  Rep. Maxine Waters paid tribute to pioneers in the women’s movement who recently passed – US Congresswoman Pat Schroeder and former President of the National Negro Council of Women Dorothy Height.  Rep. Judy Chu spoke about the attack on women’s rights plus her own experience with openly hostile Republican colleagues.  LA City Council person Tracy Park, whose district includes Venice, touted housing of over 200 unhoused persons among other accomplishments during her first term.  Lastly, a resolution was passed seeking to increase hotel workers’ minimum wage and to show support for striking LAUSD workers.  JFK Awards are scheduled for May 13.
