News from LACDP

By Jon Munoz —

The LACDP meeting on May 18 was quiet and mostly uneventful.  The main order of business was a series of votes.  An amendment was introduced seeking to expand the participation in the SEER Committee process.  SEER stands for Screening Early Endorsement Recommendations.  The motion failed to pass.  On another vote, the endorsement calendar for Gardena city races was permanently removed.

On the labor front, the Labor Committee announced that LA County requested LACDP support for LAANE and the Fair Work Week Legislation, which was approved.  The Labor Committee also announced its support and participation in the Cedars-Sinai workers’ picket line which took place May 11-13.

On the legislative front, six bills were put forth by the legislative committee and approved for LACDP endorsement.  These included AB 2223 which would restrict prosecutions in abortion related cases and SB 1230 which is the Zero & Near-Zero Emission Vehicle Incentive Program Requirement.
