August President’s Report

By Kathy Bradford —

Thank you to everyone who was able to attend our first in-person event last month.  The picnic on the lawn at St. Luke Presbyterian was well attended, the food from Lunada Bay Market and Deli was excellent, the speakers were eloquent, the new board of directors was formally installed, and everyone had a good time.  Fraser has a wonderful article in our newsletter covering the speakers, which includes a video of the event recorded by Reggie.

We also collected quite a few new and renewed memberships at the picnic.  July is the start of our new fiscal year, so membership donations are due now.  Use our on-line membership form (https://pvpdemocrats.org/membership/), which is connected to ActBlue, to pay your dues.  Individual memberships are $25, family membership is $40, and student membership is $10.  If you would prefer to pay your membership by check, please print out the form from our website and mail it to PV Democrats, P.O. Box 2234, Rolling Hills Estates, CA 90274.  Our membership dues pay for meeting room rental at the library, our website, and donations to local candidates.

September 14 is the date for the recall election to unseat Governor Gavin Newsom.  You may receive your mail-in ballot as early as August 16.  We are acquiring “No On Recall” lawn signs and making them available to our members for a suggested donation of $15.  We’ll let you know when you can order one, soon.  Check out Connie Sullivan’s report on the recall process in the newsletter.
