Today at 11am, many of us joined the local Women’s March event (hosted by Kim Rhodes), near Palos Verdes Estates City Hall, in solidarity with the Women’s March rallies across the country. We gathered for equality, tolerance, kindness, choice and to honor and remember Ruth Bader Ginsberg. Before RBG died last month, she said, “My most fervent wish is that I will not be replaced until a new president is installed.” RBG’s seat should not be filled by a woman who is committed to ending choice for women.
We had a great turnout from our community and we were met by lots of support from folks driving, biking and walking by. Here are a few photos from the event.
We drove by on the way to mail 320 Vote Forward letters. Today was the national mail-by date. I saw the demonstration and wept with joy. Thank you. Thank you.
I mailed a few in the Malaga Cove blue box, the majority in Redondo Beach and a few inside at Deep Valley. I didn’t want to overwhelm our local postoffice. The focus was on swing states.
I’m exhausted. The handwritten letters were a huge effort, written over the last few weeks, I’d gone to bed at 2 am this morning. I have also written 200 postcards – all to people in Wisconsin. So far I have expended the blue ink in two pens and have three more on their last gasp.. All envelopes handwritten as carefully and beautifully as I could and using gorgeous stamps, hoping they’ll be opened, hoping they’ll be read. .
My neighbor gave me my Biden sign. My Orange County daughter would love one. I’ve ordered one from Amazon. Why are they so hard to get – and where can I go to get another?
Of course I have voted and of course checked to be sure my ballot was received. And of course I have donated and of course I still am in the hope of helping to make a difference in close Senate seats.
