March for Science Los Angeles
April 14, 2018
Science, not silence
Recent rhetoric has inspired us to March for Science on Washington D.C. and in over 400 Satellite Marches across the country and world. Our mission statement is as follows:
MARCH FOR SCIENCE LOS ANGELES CELEBRATES THE CRUCIAL ROLES SCIENCE PLAYS IN DRIVING OUR ECONOMIC GROWTH, PRESERVING OUR ENVIRONMENT, AND PROTECTING THE HEALTH OF OUR CITIZENS. WE UNITE AS A DIVERSE, NONPARTISAN GROUP TO CALL FOR POLICYMAKERS TO CHAMPION AND FUND SCIENCE THAT UPHOLDS THE COMMON GOOD AND TO ADVOCATE FOR EVIDENCE-BASED POLICIES IN THE PUBLIC INTEREST AT LOCAL, STATE AND NATIONAL LEVELS.
The Science Expo opens at 9:00am and closes at 4:00pm. This will take place inside Pershing Square.
The crowd will be rallied by our first group of speakers at 10:00am. Marching is expected to begin at 11:00am. At our destination – City Hall – there will be a “Call to Action.” This second group of speakers will begin at noon. At the end of their speeches, marchers are welcomed to return to the Expo and help pick up litter on their way back.
