Our November Club Meeting

Join us for our hybrid (in-person and Zoom) club meeting which will be held at the Peninsula Center Library, 701 Silver Spur Road, Rolling Hills Estates, California, 90274 on November 17, 2024. Our meeting starts at 2:30 pm but join us at 2:00 pm to chat with other Democrats.

Unfortunately, since the elections on November 5, nothing feels regular. While we were fortunate enough to pass the SOS referendum and many local Democratic officials won, the national outlook remains very bleak. To help us make sense of what happened, and give us some guidance on what comes next, the Palos Verdes Democrats will present three different sets of guests for Sunday, Nov. 17.

First, we will hear from Distinguished Professor of History Allan Lichtman from American University via Zoom from 2:30-3 p.m.  Professor Lichtman will offer his analysis and take a few questions.

Professor Lichtman received his PhD from Harvard University in 1973 with a specialty in modern American history and quantitative methods. He has published thirteen books and several hundred popular and scholarly articles. He earned the title distinguished professor from the American University in Washington, D.C. He has been an expert witness in some 100 civil and voting rights cases.

Next we will meet in person two recently elected local Democrats, Rancho Palos Verdes City Councilman George Lewis and Derek Lazzaro, Palos Verdes Estates City Councilman.

Our final guests feature students from UCLA, USC and Loyola from their college Democratic clubs so we can listen to the reactions from young people. We hope you will join us for these very important discussions.
