The ADEMs Are Coming

The governing body of the California Democratic Party is the Democratic State Central Committee (DSCC) which is made up of approximately 3,200 – 3,600 delegates. Delegates come from one of three different paths:

  1. Elections of members of the County Central Committees

  2. Appointment by Elected Officials

  3. Elections of Democrats in each Assembly District (AD)

Elections of delegates in the 3rd category normally take place at Assembly District Election Meetings. Registered Democrats in each Assembly District elect seven “self-identified females” and seven “other than self-identified female” delegates. Also, the voters elect one of these 14 delegates to be the Executive Board member from the Assembly District.

Candidates can register online at CADEM.org beginning on December 9, 2024 at 12:00 noon. The registration window will close on January 8, 2025 at 12:00 noon.

The ADEMs will have two components – an electronic voting component and an in-person voting component. A voter can choose either voting method.

Voters must register for either process. The registration window will open on January 6, 2025 at 12:00 pm for each process. The electronic voter registration window will close on January 24, 2025. The in-person voter registration window closes at 6:00 pm on February, 23, 2025 – when in-person voting ends.

On January 31, 2025, electronic voter credentials will be mailed (USPS) to those who registered to vote electronically by January 24, 2025. Once voters have their credentials in hand, they can vote electronically online.

In-person ADEMs will be held on February 22 and February 23, 2025. Each ADEM will be held in a different, but central location within Region 18. A voter will be able to vote at either location on either day. Locations and times will be available soon.

The deadline to verify voter issues will close on February 26, 2025 at 12:00 pm.

Results will be posted on March 3, 2025.
