Women’s Suffrage Reenactment Parade
March 14 @ 10:00 am
Celebrate the 100th Anniversary of the 19th Amendment by participating in the Peninsula’s Suffrage Rights reenactment parade! Sport banners, sashes, and posters advocating the right to vote as suffragists did a century ago. We encourage participants to wear all white, just like the suffragists and the library will supply all banners, sashes, and posters participants will use in the parade.
All are welcome, including families, children, and people of all genders.
Why white? “…wearing white became an accessible way for anyone to join the cause. By making a color rather than a specific garment their key identifier, the suffragettes created a democratized uniform, meaning women of any race or economic status could afford to dress the part.” For more info, visit this site.
