November 2018 Ballot – LACDP recommendations

Governor – Gavin Newsom
Lt. Governor – Ed Hernandez or Eleni Kounalakis (no endorsement: both Dems) Compare them here.
Secretary of State – Alex Padilla
Controller – Betty Yee
Treasurer – Fiona Ma
Attorney General – Xavier Becerra
Insurance Commissioner – Ricardo Lara
Member State Board of Equalization 3rd District Office 3 – Tony Vazquez
US Senator  – Kevin De Leon was endorsed by the LACDP, but compare candidates here.
US Representative 33rd District – Ted Lieu
State Senator – Ben Allen
Member State Assembly 66th District – Al Muratsuchi

California Supreme Court:  Leondra R. Kruger YES; Carol A. Corrigan NO (Corrigan voted against marriage equality.  If voted out, our new governor will be able to appoint a more progressive judge.)

California State Court of Appeals: Vote YES on all the California Appeals Court Justices (District 2 in Divisions 1-7.  They have been vetted and chosen by Governor Brown for 12-year terms.

PROPOSTIONS
Prop 1 (Veterans & Affordable Housing Bond is supported by the LACDP & League of Women Voters)– YES

Prop 2 (Homeless services for those with mental illness) – both LACDP and LWV say vote YES

Prop 3 (Poorly written water bond proposal) No endorsement by LACDP but LWV & Sierra Club say NO

Prop 4 (children’s hospitals) –YES by LACDP but LWV says NO as public funds would support private hosps

Prop 5 (realtor-sponsored and funded; would reduce school funding) – both LACDP and LWV say vote NO

Prop 6 (would repeal previously voter-approved infrastructure funds) – both LACDP and LWV say vote NO

Prop 7 (make daylight savings permanent) – YES by LACDP and LA Times

Prop 8 (limits how much clinics can charge dialysis patient) – YES by LACDP

Prop 10 (allows local jurisdiction over rent control) – YES by LACDP, CA Teachers, LA Times

Prop 11 (primary support and beneficiaries are ambulance companies) – NO by LACDP

Prop 12 (prevents animal cruelty) – YES by LACDP and Sierra Club

 

Los Angeles Flood Control District: Measure W –YES by LACDP, Heal the Bay (2/3 vote required)

PVPUSD School Board – Megan Crawford (teacher and only candidate endorsed by the LACDP)

West Basin Water District, Division 1 – Harold Williams, incumbent and endorsed by LACDP
