The Current Crisis in Transportation Finance and What To Do About It

At the May club meeting, Dr. Martin Wachs, a retire professor of civil and environmental engineering and professor of city and regional planning at UC Berkeley, spoke to the club about future funding of transportation infrastructure.
Among the topics, Dr. Wachs discussed ways to pay for roads using alternative methods that are fairer than the gas tax. Several options revolve around mileage use, and Dr. Wachs described methods by which we all can volunteer to test alternatives.
